To See, or Not To See?
For ages, wedding planners have had the discussion with couples about whether or not to see each other before the ceremony; and Special Moments Event Planning is no different.
The truth of the matter is that the decision is completely up to you as a couple. Yes, there may be outside pressures, and there are pros and cons you will want to consider as well. At the end of the day, you need to be happy with your decision.
Whether you are a local Central Florida couple planning a Tampa Bay Area wedding, a Gulf Coast destination wedding, considering a beach wedding ceremony, a unique Florida wedding venue or Gulf Coast Hotel; the options are all the same.
We were looking at Tracy and Nick’s beautiful Lake County wedding at Bella Collina, captured by the amazingly talented Lakeland photographer, Dustin Prickett of Sunglow Photography. He captured this stunning couple seeing each other for the first time before their ceremony. Images of every step of the first look, from nearly every angle, really telling their story. Florals were done by Iza’s Flowers Inc.
Here are some of the Pros and Cons of each option for your wedding day.
If you choose not to see each other prior to the wedding ceremony you have the anticipation of walking down the aisle, the suspense leading up to that one moment and the loving looks as you see each other for the first time on your wedding day.
The Con to waiting to see each other is that your first look happens in front of a hundred or so of your closest family and friends, keeping your composure can be a challenge. It’s also a fleeting moment as you both step forward, barely speaking to each other to begin your wedding ceremony. You follow the ceremony with family and wedding party portraits and then finally get some time together, alone, except for the photographer.
If you choose to see each other prior to your wedding ceremony, your photographer will arrange a private location with a beautiful backdrop for the two of you to meet. Typically, one of you is standing with their back to the entrance where the other is entering; you walk up to your fiancé as they slowly turn around and see you for the first time.
You get some time to embrace, sneak a kiss before the wedding, take in how stunningly beautiful your soon-to-be spouse looks on the biggest day of your lives. You spend some time alone, walking, and holding hands. You’ll also have some time to freshen up and touch up makeup.
Then, you get to do it all over again in front of your closest family and friends.
