The Grand Lady of Dunedin

The Fenway was built in 1924 and faces the beautiful St Joseph Sound.

Opened during the golden age of jazz, the hotel played host to iconic musicians, artists, and politicians. It also served as Pinellas Counties’ first radio station. It had the call letters WGHB – the initials of the owner G.H. Bowles.

On January 8, 1928, they hosted an Opening Dinner Dance for $2.50 per plate. As you might guess, wedding receptions, here and anywhere, cost a little more today.

Initially, the hotel operated seasonally and underwent a lot of changes over the years. At one point had a 400 foot-long pier across the street, had an English Croquet court, miniature skeet range. Later, it operated as a private club and a school and was left empty for several years.

 

A Marriott Premium Hotel

On October 25, 2018, The Fenway reopened as part of the Autograph Collection Hotels, a Marriott Premium Hotel.

The beautiful hotel echoes the past and includes modern conveniences, premium bedding, mini-fridges, a fabulous rooftop bar.

The Fenway’s sprawling front lawn is ideal for wedding ceremonies with incredible views of St. Joseph’s Sound with the resort’s beautiful architectural details as your backdrop.

Inside, the Caladesi Ballroom accommodates up to 180 guests for a wedding reception and dancing. The room is flooded with natural light from large windows, and we love the vintage lighting.

And, if you’re a wine lover, be sure to ask about taking photos in their incredible wine cellar!

We love that Dunedin is so walkable. You can grab a bike and ride the nearby trail for miles or hop a trolley through town or down to Clearwater. The Fenway Hotel makes a beautiful location for a wedding weekend your family and friends are sure to remember.
