When High School Sweethearts Wed

Kendra + Lucas | Opal Sands Resort, Clearwater Beach

Kendra and Lucas first met in high school and as they say, the rest is history. Their first date was to watch the Ironman Competition on Clearwater Beach; so returning for a Clearwater Beach wedding overlooking the Gulf of Mexico was an easy choice

Our Special Moments Event Planning team first met Kendra about a year before their wedding when she was touring the Opal Sands Resort. Our team was busy setting up another wedding and we had the opportunity to chat briefly. About a month later we chatted a little more and they hired us to start the planning.

Kendra wanted a romantic wedding in shades of blush, a very popular design that is soft and timeless.

She selected a beautiful, sleek lace sheath gown with a spaghetti strap detail, paired with a stunning, dramatic cathedral length veil.

Her hand-tied bouquet of roses and cottage roses in varying shades of soft white, cream, and blush with wide white satin ribbon loops on the underside was the perfect accent to her form-fitting gown.

  

Kendra’s bridal party wore soft pink bridesmaid’s dresses and carried bouquets similar to Kendra’s with soft pink accents and a pop of seeded eucalyptus.

Their terrace wedding overlooking the beach and Gulf of Mexico was accented with white garden chairs, white lanterns, and columns with pink and white flowers, allowing the horizon and sky to be their ceremony backdrop.

 

After exchanging vows Kendra and Lucas spent some time alone taking in the breathtaking Opal Sands Resort, sunset and Clearwater Beach.

 

 

 

Their wedding reception was bathed in soft blush tones with floor to ceiling draping and warm lighting on one wall and floor to ceiling windows to take in the sunset on the opposite wall.  Floor-length white table linen was the perfect backdrop for clear glass charger plates with gold rims and gold chivari ballroom chairs.

The tables were topped with a mix of tall arrangements and cylinders with submerged flowers in blush, cream, and white.  Pink napkins, pink votive candles and champagne with a fresh local strawberry completed the romantic feel.

 

Guests dined on a delicious buffet dinner, danced the night away and enjoyed a beautiful, simple three-tiered white wedding cake decorated with a few blush toned flower clusters.
