What Is Your Plan B?

One of the challenges of planning Florida Gulf Coast weddings on the beach is always the weather. While a majority of the time our weather is beautiful and predictable, occasionally we will get some pop-up showers that mean we will need to go to ‘Plan B’.

Our Special Moments Event Planning Team always has a Plan B, especially during our rainy season. We discuss this scenario in advance with couples to make sure they understand their options.

Recently, our wedding planning team worked with Kassandra and Oliver; a really sweet bride and groom who met in college at the University of New Hampshire; where a friend introduced them at a party.

They moved to Saint Petersburg a little over a year ago and they decided to get married here where they are beginning their life together.

The couple chose the beautiful Tampa Bay Watch in Tierra Verde for their beach wedding. This beautiful location is dedicated to the protection and restoration of the Tampa Bay estuary. This venue offers a natural beachfront setting, large deck for stunning sunset views and expansive grounds.

A weather call was made the night before the wedding to move the beach reception inside because of the delivery and set up of rental items, and the forecasted rain the following evening. The indoor space has bamboo floors, a neutral color palette and provides wonderful sunset views.

The beach-themed escort cards, centerpieces, and wedding cake looked beautiful in the indoor space.

As the wedding approached, the wedding party started with some outdoor photos on the beach but ran into a light drizzle and the weather appeared to be off and on.

About three hours before the ceremony the decision was made to move the ceremony onto a covered deck, where unfortunately the wedding arch designed for the beach was not going to fit.  Fortunately, our team made some adjustments, worked some magic and the outcome was beautiful.

At the end of the day, the lighting was beautiful, the colors of the sunset were breathtaking and the weather cleared later in the evening for some outdoor photos and a sparkler sendoff.
