The Bride Is A No Show!

Recently, Special Moments Event Planning’s Dream Maker Petra helped plan a weeklong wedding event for Natalie and her fiancé Grant on the beach at the beautiful Sunset Beach Resort on Siesta Key.

With a large number of guests from Canada (Natalie is Canadian) and Europe, activities were planned all week long including International Beach Olympics the day before the wedding with flags of participants, tents, food and a bar.

 

The morning of the wedding, all of the details were in place. The beach was set with a beautiful wooden trellis draped with sheer white fabric, strands of pearls and clusters of flowers. Guests had arrived and Grant, the groomsmen, and bridesmaids were all in place. But No Natalie!

 

The DJ announced that Natalie and her father had gone for a ride earlier to do a first look and spend some time together and had car trouble, and they would be arriving in about 15 minutes. Shortly after, Petra approached the best man Ryan to tell him that Natalie wasn’t coming and that he needed to tell Grant, the groom. After he relayed the message to Grant the bridesmaids got VERY upset.

Just then, the theme from Mission Impossible started playing and a small plane appeared on the horizon, flying past the beach, circling back and landing just offshore, taxiing onto the beach with Natalie!

 

 

It seems that the couple had seen seaplanes on their first visit to the venue and wanted to include one in the wedding in some way. When Petra originally commented on playing a prank on the guests, the couple jumped right in! Aside from the vendors on our team, no one knew, Natalie’s dad was only let in on the secret that morning!

After the dramatic entrance, the couple exchanged vows and took some photos with their wedding party on the beach as the sun set behind them.

 

 

The couple joined their guests for a very relaxed, personalized wedding reception. They wanted no formalities, just good food and time with family and friends; and the big screen TV Grant requested to see the hockey game.

 

The outdoor reception space was set with long wooden tables, modest centerpieces, beautiful vintage lounge furniture, and great personal touches; all accented with hanging crystal chandeliers and a dessert station suspended from a tree, ending the night with a local pizza truck!

 

This beautiful, unique wedding is one for the books, and something Natalie, Grant, their family, and friends are sure to talk about for a long, long time. I know our team is!
