An Intimate, Socially Distant Sand Key Wedding

Our Special Moments Event Planning team enjoyed our time working with Terri and Gerry. Their intimate Sand Key wedding was so sweet and very personal. However, during COVID-19, the planning process was quite a rollercoaster ride.

Shifts in Wedding Planning

When we initially met pre-Covid. The couple had selected a November 14th wedding date hosting about 120 wedding guests, with many traveling to join them. The wedding planning later sifted to an intimate wedding ceremony, keeping their original wedding date. This would be followed by a  large reception sometime in the future when everyone could travel and come together.

Eventually, the couple kept their original wedding date and hosted an outdoor wedding reception for forty family members and close friends.

Our Bride

Terri spent the morning getting ready, carefully following all safety protocols. Her day included onsite hair and makeup, and after getting ready, she had a few bridal portraits.

The bride wore a beautiful lace embellished wedding gown with an illusion neckline and three-quarter sleeves. Terri wore her hair down and accented with a lovely long veil.

Her bridal bouquet of beautiful white and lavender roses was hand-tied with white satin. The bouquet was accented with a photo locket of her father, who she had recently lost. Remembering her father was an essential part of the day for Terri, her mother, and her family.

Our Groom

Gerry looked very handsome in his traditional black tuxedo with a notched collar. A crisp white shirt with a winged collar, bow tie, and lavender rose boutonniere completed the very classic look.

A Church Wedding Ceremony During Covid-19

The church had particular protocols, with every other pew being blocked off to ensure physical distancing. As all guests required masks, custom masks with the couple’s name and wedding date were provided to everyone along with their wedding program.

Terri’s mother walked her down the aisle. The couple surrounded by the family had a beautiful wedding ceremony incorporating some personal touches.

The afternoon wedding ceremony concluded with the newlyweds being cheered by wedding guests waving white ribbon wands followed by some wedding portraits at the church.

An Intimate Evening Wedding

The couple headed off to Sand Key Park for some wedding photos on the beach. Meanwhile, wedding guests took advantage of some downtime to enjoy the Florida weather.

Later that evening, wedding guests gathered for the cocktail reception with butler passed hors d’ oeuvres and an assortment of coffee, soft drinks, and cocktails. Terri spent a few minutes with our Special Moments Event Planning Lead Dream Maker, Tammy Waterman, to enjoy the wedding design and remember her late father.

The outdoor wedding reception was hosted on a beautiful outdoor patio. The space was set with white garden chairs, round tables with crisp white linens, and floral centerpieces in lavender and white. Lavender napkins were layered on silver tone charger plates and accented with purple orchids.

The wedding reception began with the couple’s first. The night was filled with delicious food, several touching toasts and concluded with newlyweds cutting this intimate lavender wedding cake.
