For this month’s Wedding Venue Wednesday, our Special Moments Event Planning team crossed the bay to a beautiful Hyde Park neighborhood and a historic wedding venue. The Orlo!

History of The Orlo

Located just outside Tampa, The Orlo, technically known as the Spafford House, was built in 1896 by Orlo J. Spafford, President of the Tampa National Bank.

In 1922 the family home was sold to the Tampa Woman’s Club, where the ballroom was added to host formal events.

Today, The Orlo is a Private Social Club that can be rented for weddings and events.

 

Weddings, And Events

First of all, this beautiful property offers couple’s the opportunity to host events both inside and out, providing flexibility for events from 50 to 200 guests.

There are two central portions to the property – The Mansion and The Ballroom.

The Orlo offers weddings ample parking on-site, is handicapped accessible, and has easy access for all of your wedding vendors to load in and out.

 

The Mansion

The historic mansion has three floors, two of which are accessible as part of the rental. The 1st floor is ideal for intimate weddings, ceremonies, or cocktail receptions.

It offers an incredible Grand Staircase, which makes for amazing photos.

And we love the fantastic brick fireplace. The fireplace looks beautiful, decorated with garlands, candles, and family photos.

The 2nd-floor space is reserved for wedding parties and family and offers nicely appointed private ready room spaces.

 

The Ballroom

The Orlo’s ballroom offers beautiful hardwood floors, a large built-in stage perfect for your band, DJ, or sweetheart table. And, we love the light from the enormous windows and four vintage glass four chandeliers.
