#2. Cosmic Paradise

In their Chucks and green suspenders, the groomsmen strolled toward the hanging blue windows at the end of the aisle, a homage to the popular British science-fiction series, “Dr. Who.”  In her vintage inspired lace and tool grown, the bride blissfully floated toward her man.

Wedding World, we have arrived at my second stop of this journey!  This wedding had a vibrant Cosmic theme, a Sci-Fi elegance, a Nerd’s Paradise if you will.  Stick with me here and I’ll explain in 5….4….3….2….

When Tammy first mentioned to me about the inspiration to be incorporated into this wedding — Dr. Who, Star Wars, Battlestar Galatica, and Firefly to name a few — I thought, oh okay.  Well. You go ahead and tackle that, and I’ll be over here doing….I don’t know, napkin swans.  My point is, how do you take what seems to be a highly themed party and holistically make it into a successful wedding?

Do you:

A. Hire Tammy’s Special Moments’ Team

B. Let the Force Be With You and allow the universe to decide

C. Borrow the Tardis from Dr. Who and travel to the future to find the answer

I’m going to pick A, but know that C was a very close runner up.  Between you and I, I’m using that time machine, Tardis, to get winning lottery tickets, just saying.

One of my biggest lessons from Tammy has been to take what the bride WANTS and accompany that with what you KNOW.  For example, the bride wanted bright colors, purples and greens, Tammy knew to incorporate the bright colors in center piece décor and flowers for a good balance. Please. Take a moment to reflect on the beauty of these flowers from Iza’s Flower, Inc.  Next time you have to banish your guy to the dog house, and there will be a next time,  tell him to pick up some apology flowers from Iza’s.

When we first came upon the wedding’s location, the Clearwater Beach Rec Center, I didn’t like it.  I thought it to be plain for a celebratory union, and uninviting.  Quickly I realized the fault in my assumption, I mistook the Center’s greatest attribute as a downfall, as a flaw. The reception room is very plain and just a simple square, but in order to add your personality, your wedding theme, your hospitality, aren’t plain and simple the essentials of what you need; a blank canvas?  Your possibilities are infinite, put up some accent lights with ceiling treatments, and it’s a different place.  The ceremony was outside on an intimate lawn overlooking the water.  If you want that serene feel of getting married on the water, without the sand and bystanders of a beach, book this place now.

With our blank canvas, we were able to create a starry sky for our cosmic couple with drapes, ceiling treatments, and lights. No center pieces were harmed in the process. WHEW!

But atop of everything, this blank canvas gave Cosmic life to the bride’s Sci-Fi inspiration, we added bright colors without the worry of clashing with the colors of the reception hall, the center pieces mimicked a shelf of books taking its table members to a vintage library, and the table chart, was a periodic table–clever huh.  And the cake, UHHHH the cake,  single handedly represented their theme decorated with shooting stars, space ships from various sci-fi shows, and topped with a girl and boy alien.  There was even an ice sculpture of Tardis from Dr. Who.  An ice sculpture. An. Ice. Sculpture.  If that doesn’t spell fancy, I just don’t know what does!

I wish I could post all the pictures here so you could see them, wait, what am I saying, check out our Special Moments Facebook page and scroll down to the SNEAK PEEK of Kelli & Brendan’s weddings photos post to match the visual experience to my written one.  This wedding, with all its personality and quirk was beautiful, fun, and the ultimate reflection of two people perfect for each other.

DON’T FEED THE BIRDS:  During Cocktail hour, someone fed a seagull followed by a whole slew crashing the party.

OUR QUOTE OF THE WEEK COMES FROM DR.WHO (can you tell I have Dr. Who fever too?) :

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. Hey. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice-versa, the bad things don’t necessarily spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

Until the next time, straight from the New Girl: the good, the bad, and the honest truth.

xoxo Krystal
